Nanny and Family Assistance FAQs

 
  • The primary role of the nanny is that of childcare and can include household and family responsibilities as agreed upon between the family and the nanny. A nanny is oftentimes the primary care provider while parents are away, but can provide services while parents are home as well.

    Family assistants help a parent or family in need of support with household and family responsibilities, usually while the parent is home. This can include organizing, schedule coordination, meal preparation, shopping, laundry, child chore supervision, help with homework, getting children ready for school in the morning, running errands, making calls, setting up appointments and help with events.

    Rate: $42/hour

  • The Baby Hive Employment service rates start at $37/hr with contract discounts and a non-refundable $500 setup fee. There is a 4 hour daily minimum for services.

    Our Placement Service Rate is equal to 12% of negotiated gross nanny wages for 1st year of employment with a minimum of $4,500.00 in addition to the $500 non-refundable setup fee.

  • The Baby Hive offers a Nanny/Family Assistant Employment Service for our clients full or part time employees with benefits, however, this is not the only employer relationship option. We also offer a Placement option where you, the client, are the employer.

  • When scheduling specific days and times, families have the option of coordinating directly with the nanny or family assistant or The Baby Hive can help coordinate also. We find it’s usually easiest for families to coordinated directly if there are varying hours throughout the week. When these hours are coordinate directly, we’re happy to confirm this schedule and provide additional coverage should a substitute be needed.

  • Time tracking is done via clocking in and out on a remote time clock app.

  • If using The Baby Hive as the nanny or family assistant employer, we will invoice you weekly and cover all payroll processing. The Baby Hive is subject to overtime requirements; any hours over 40 are billed at time and a half.

  • Yes! This is a fantastic option with many benefits. As the employer of your nanny or family assistant, you commit to following Utah employment laws which requires the employer to pay all W-2 applicable taxes and insurance. Nannies and family assistants must be W-2 employees and not 1099 contractors.

  • Yes! We know that this can seem like a daunting task but we are here to help you through the process with our professional references for payroll and contract services. Also, it is good to know that there are tax benefits you’re entitled to by being a household employer, so we encourage you to check with your personal accountant to confirm the details of these benefits.
